What about the enthought edition,
  http://www.enthought.com/downloads/downloads.htm

It includes (among many other useful things)
    * VTK 4.2.2: 3D Visualization Toolkit
    * MayaVi 1.3: 3D Data Visualization Tool

and uses Python 2.3.3
