[vtkusers] setpattern with compress file?

Hi,

With vtkImageReader you can do a setpattern when a volume data is made of file slice and that is supported inside the vtk itself? Am I right? if yes, then is it possible that each of these file be compressed and that vtk support the compressed file without the needs for me to do the uncompressed step in my code?
