Yes I think vtk supports some medical imaging format(I think dicom , I am
not sure of Ecat), someone else can perhaps give you more details on that.

About MFC: you can use VTK with MFC. So it is up to you put what you want of
MFC items such as dialog box. Pl. look at the sample that comes with vtk to
see
How to use vtk in MFC. Vtk does not provide classes to do user interface.
