[vtkusers] java and vtk 4.0

I've been attempting to install vtk 4.0 with java support, but I get the
following error while compiling:

Error opening output file
/home/matobrie/vtk4/VTK/java/vtk/vtkAbstractMapper.java

This file does not exist. In fact, the directory .../VTK/java/ does not
even exist. So, my question is, is java support available in vtk 4.0
yet? If so, what am I missing? If not, is there a time frame when it
might be?
