tiling pattern on final slice

I'm using marching cubes and decimation to create a surface model
from a segmented volume. Unfortunately, the last volume slice (the
"cut face" of the volume) volume gets tessellated into very large
triangles (since it's flat). Is there a way in VTK to control the size
of the tiles that get generated??

TIA,

heather
