[vtkusers] How to read a RAW file?

Hi,
could someone explain how I can read or open a RAW file? I received 3D data 
in a file with extension .RAW and I am not sure how to open this in vtk.Does 
anyone have an example or a website where I can get some help?Help would be 
most appreciated ASAP.Or does anyone have an example in which they 
manipulated a *.RAW file?
