Install VTK on a Linux-system

Hi there,

The HOWTO needs to be updated, but that may not be the source of
your problem.  I followed the directions in 

http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/~heiland/vtk/

Why don't you try that first and see if that fixes your problem?
Incidentally, if you are planning to use Java, the easiest thing
to do is *not* put --with-java as one of the flags for the 
./configure script, then do edit system.make and set a value for 
two variables:

BUILD_JAVA	= build_java
CLEAN_JAVA	= clean_java

And the rest should be fairly straightforward.
