about vtk on sgi

hi,
I have vtk2.4 configured with java 1.2.2,when after installing and compiling 
.I tried to run a an example Sphere.java.I got strange errors.can some take 
a look at this and tell me what the problem is.And does one need root 
permissions when installing vtk.
