There really is an active IUE/TargetJr user community, be it that it is
probably less visible to the outside world than the VTK community.
About the relationship between IUE/TargetJr and VTK: I rather see the two
as being orthogonal and complementary to each other, with only minor overlaps.
At the last TargetJr Consortium meeting there were reports of successful
combined use of VTK and TargetJr, where VTK was mainly used for 3D and
rendering, while TargetJr was used for its Numerics and Topology classes.
Because both are C++, and TargetJr/IUE can be configured to automatically
link VTK libraries, it is fairly easy to write programs using both.
