I'm pretty new both to paraview and the mac, so I won't comment on the
stability question, but I did want to report success building and
running paraview on an Intel MacBook by following the instructions at

http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~hudson/ParaView/paraview.html

I haven't tried building a parallel version yet -- I think I need to
find and install an MPI implementation first.
