Sort of, all the little commits do keep adding to the repository
(nothing reachable is ever discarded) but that isn't a problem. Git
only has to store something like a patch for each commit and git is
pretty thrifty. With data files it can be a problem but not it isn't
for code. Each branch and tags is little more than a reference to a
commit to, so those are minuscule too.
