[vtkusers] Different behavior of vtkXMLPUnstructuredGridWriter in VTK 7.1

Backwards compatibility is something I should work harder on in general so
having someone check on me for this isn't a bad thing.

I just hit a backwards compatibility issue with a separate library today
and it's certainly annoying and a good way to anger users.
