The code examples in the book have not been updated to cover the changes to
the library. However, the changes between 5 and 6 are mostly relatively
minor syntactical changes (
http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/VTK_6_Migration/Overview), the overall behavior
and theme of VTK remains the same. So I think you are better off buying now
rather than waiting until the next editions come out. I have no information
yet about when the next books will come out.
