[vtkusers] highlight selection error?

I was taking a look at the following example (
http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/Examples/Cxx/Picking/HighlightSelection) and
noticed that it does not actually highlight a section specified by a user
but just selects the entire data set. Is there any way to alter it so that
only the points inside the rubber-band are selected instead of selecting
every point or is that how it was designed to work?
