[vtkusers] vtkImageSobel2D Problem

i m using vtkImageSobel2D for edgedetection.
This filter is using double data, cause of that when i want to use it for a
300 mb serie image data it needs more than 1.5 gb free space and computer
crashes. How can i fix this or what other filter/s can be used for edge
detection ? All sobel kind filters are making same thing.
