[vtkusers] Help creating stand-alone VTK

Hi,

I was wondering, if anyone can suggest a way to create prebuilt
binaries for VTK under linux. I am using Ubuntu, and I downloaded from
the repos version 5.2. But want to create my own instead of depending
on the repos.

I dont think it is a straightforward procedure else I may have found
something on my numerous google searches. Any hints or suggestions on
this would also be much appreciated.
