[vtkusers] vtkImageViewer2 and vtkSeedWidget

I never understood why one would use a vtkImageViewer2 instead of
simply a vtkRenderWindowInteractor + vtkInteractorStyleImage?

Here is the outline of an example trying to use vtkSeedWidget with
vtkImageViewer2:

I'm not sure how to start the interaction with the viewer though -
maybe someone could look at this:

and then we could apply it to the SeedWidgetImage example?
