[vtkusers] vtkSTLWriter strongly confusing behavior

I think that there is no such thing as merging in the STLWriter, since a STL
file is basically only the coordinates of the points, without any ID.
The merging operation probably happen when you load your STL, since the
coincident points have the same coordinates and are thus considered as
unique point ...
Fred.

Objet : [vtkusers] vtkSTLWriter strongly confusing behavior

It is once again that I had to pay a few hours debugging to find out I
miss to merge coincident points after append filter. This is because I
was confused by vtkSTLWriter (that I used to output a test mesh) which
is merging the points in the mesh he writes. So I thought the mesh is OK
while it was not! I think STLWriter should not do it in order not to
fool the users. Or it at least should be an option (defaulting to
merging off). What do others think?
