[vtkusers] Extract some image-slices to compute accumulate

Hello,

I have a 3D-images of dicom files and I want to calculatate the history of
used colors. For that I will use vtkAccumulate, but when I call Update on
this object the process doen't take an end. My idea is to extract some
2d-images to get a faster result.

Can somebody tell me why the execution of this takes so long and how to
extract some slices?
