[vtkusers] Freetype License Question

Hello all,
I wonder if i can simply use freetype with VTK without any licensing
Problems.
The reason I am asking is that freetype is Licensed under GPL and
I would do something like extending VTK with freetype. However, I have read
that the VTK license does not allow to extend VTK with GPLed code because
VTK would then be no longer usable as a closed source library
