[vtkusers] vtk algorithm precision?

Hi,
I have a double precision polydata file and run some filters on it, then 
re-save the file. Sometimes the precision of the output is float, 
sometimes double. Is there a way I can force double precision in the 
algorithm or is it something specific to the particular algorithm?
