No. But why have risks with the build system? And if you need to build
the examples ( and believe, you'll probaly need ;) )?

No. I was developed some things using MSVS 2005 Express Edition ( just
to test it ), using CMake and not using CMake and no problems. Aftet
installed, CMake will just a choice to you. And CMake aren't just
about cross platform development. First of all, CMake are a mature,
easy to use, well documented build system. Softwares outside Kitware
are using it ( example, KDE, a *nix desktop environment ).

No impact and not.
Finally, I'll heavy advice you to install CMake.
