[vtkusers] question

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to develop some proof-of-concept project software and someone
mentioned about VTK to me.  Please can anyone give me a brief description of
VTK does and how it may benefit my project.  My codes are in MATLAB and R.
Do you think, these are compatible with VTK?  A pointer to a basic resource
about VTK will also be appreciated.  I thank you all.
