[vtkusers] vtkFixedPointVolumeRayCastMapper Artifacts

Is there a known issue with axis-aligned viewing angles and the
vtkFixedPointVolumeRayCastMapper ?  I'm rendering some large floating-point
vtkImageData and wind up with a large black crosshair across the middle,
right in the middle of the screen.
