Well if your goal is simply to write XML files you may wish to build the 
minimal stuff in VTK, right ? If you turn VTK_RENDERING=ON cmake we'll 
be building the Rendering, VolumeRendering, Hybrid, Widgets for you. If 
you are not concerned about that, use your regular VTK shared libs.
