[vtkusers] Internal Link edit command failed

I'm having trouble building vtk with the Python wrappers on OSX
10.4.5. I get the following error message. I have compiled using both
gcc 4.01 and gcc 4.2. I've reviewed the email archives and Googled for
a couple hours with no
luck. Any suggestions?
