[vtkusers] filter that allows only cartesian connectivity?

I made a plane cut through a volume grid that is hierarchical (like AMR), but 
when I did a cut through it the result didn't look correct as when it guessed 
how to do the connectivity it sometimes choose to connect two points 
diagonally, so there are lots of diagonal edges in the final image and there 
should be none.  Is there an existing filter that could fix this problem?
