[vtkusers] omitting cell scalar data when using GetScalarRange() - using VTK 4.5.0 and vtkGAMBITReader

Hello -

vtkGAMBITReader generates cell scalar data to represent the material
ID; these scalar values show up (as they should) when GetScalarRange()
is used on the UnStructuredGrid created from vtkGAMBITReader - Is
there a way to avoid reading cell scalar data when using the
GetScalarRange() method? If not, are there any good workarounds for
omitting or suppressing cell scalar data when reading GAMBIT files or
manipulating the resulting UnStructuredGrids?
