Dear colleagues,

     Follows a call for specialists on Computer Science and
     Visualization to work at the LNCC/MCT, Brazil.

     Call for Activities of Research & Development at the LNCC/MCT

The National Laboratory of Scientific Computation (LNCC/MCT), is calling
for Graduates, MSc’s and PhD’s in Software Engineering, Computer Science
or similar areas for research and development activities in the project:

     Modeling and simulation of the Human Cardiovascular System

The goal of this project the development of software to aid in the different
stages of the modeling and simulation of the Human Cardiovascular System, being:

 · Acquisition of data from medical images (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) in standard
   formats.
 · Scientific visualization.
 · Medical image enhancement and segmentation.
 · One-dimensional finite element mesh modeling.
 · Three-dimensional finite element mesh modeling.
 · Coupling between both models.
 · Development of numerical analysis software via finite element method.
 · Parallel computing a high performance computing.
 · Divulgation of the project advances and results (via web pages), human resources
   training, knowledge transfer.

The candidates must send their CV to the project coordinator Prof. Raul Feijoo
(feij at lncc.br) or Ignacio Larrabide (nacho at lncc.br), showing knowledge in OO
software development in C++ and one or more of the following areas:

 · The candidates MUST have solid background and experience in the following areas:
  o Software Analysis.
  o Software Development.
  o Object Oriented Programming.
  o ANSI C++.
 · The candidates MUST have solid background and experience in at least ONE OR MORE of
   the following areas:
  o Scientific visualization.
  o Image processing.
  o High performance computing and parallel processing.
  o Finite Element Method.
  o Interfaces design.

The salaries are compatible with the values of scholarships fixed by the CNPq
according to the level of the candidate(Graduate, MSc or PhD) (http://www.cnpq.br).
