i did install the python from source. the box had 2.2 on it. but it wasn't
working properfly. so i updated it to 2.4 (but i didn't get rid of the old
stuff... wasn't sure how). And it still is having problems. I'm pretty sure
i'm setting things to teh right headers and directories during the cmake
phase.
