[vtkusers] Send/rcv vtkImageData instance over a communication pipe

Hi,
 
I'm trying to exchange vtkImageData instance over a communication channel (socket/named pipe) with other processors in the cluster.  I do not know how to send/recv user defined structures like vtkImageData; also I believe the data pointed by vtkImageData is actually a pointer and i do not know how do I successfully transfer vtkImageData as a whole.  I appreciate any inputs on this.
