[vtkusers] vtkImageStencil algorithm

Hi,
I would like to know how are two images combined in a vtkImageStencil. What I specifically want to know is if I have a polygonal mesh representing a structure and I create an image of say 256x256x256 dimensions and I want to combine these two, then will they be combined by simply taking nearest neighbors of the mesh on the image grid ? 

Please let me know....
