[vtkusers] hardware depending cmake/vtk- settings ?

hi,

i have written a vtk- application that should draw a lot of
glyphs (arround 200.000). the glyphs consist of
vtkCubeSource or alternatively vtkConeSource (3 sides).
i use this app on two different machines:
an athlon 3000+ with an ati- radeon 9700 on WinXP Prof
  and a pentium4 2.8 GHz with a nvidia geforce on Win2K

i have compiled this app seperatly on both machines using visual c++ 6
and vtk 4.2. now my problem:

on the athlon- machine everything works fine, all the glyphs are
shown. the pentium- machine on the other hand draws much less glyphs.
in case of cones there are approximately 75% shown, in case of cubes
arround 40%.
is it possible that this phenomenon is hardware dependent? are there
different cmake-, opengl- or vtk- settings i could use to specify the
code to a certain machine? or am i completly wrong and the bug is
somewhere different?
any help would be mostly appreciated. many thanks in asdvance...

Joseph
