Yay! In my special case, the optimizations are rockin'. =)

Calculation time is down to ~1s (from ~10s). Whatever you did, good work.

No, ParaView 1.2.1 definitely has those changes I made.  If the 
optimizations are singlehandedly responsible for a 20x speed improvement 
- well, that would make my day.  Let me know if the newer cutter helps, 
and if not, mabey post a sample program demonstrating the "slowness".
