[vtkusers] Simple question about vtkImageMapToColors

Hello,

    As read in the documentation, vtkImageMapToColors has unsigned chars as its output. Does this mean 8bit per pixel,
    and only 256 different colors? Do the unsigned chars represent the colors directly or as an index into a LUT?
