Thank you for your quick reply!

Actually, I tried OpenDX before under Linux. It's a good application for
visualization, but I don't like its interface. Thank you for your
suggestion. I will try out VTK soon.

Another thing is that how I can visualize segmented volume data with
VTK. For volume data, I can directly using volume rendering methods such
as ray casting etc. The problem is how to incorporate the segmentation
information?

Hi,

I think you would definitely want either ITK or VTK rather than using 
OpenGL 'manually'. It is much easier to build an app using ITK or VTK 
but if you just want to visualise data you could also try OpenDX from
IBM.
