Hi All,

We need to rebuild VTK from CVS so we can use our new volume pro 1000
board with it.

However ee are having a problem with ccmake after upgrading from
gcc3.0.4 to 3.2.

after selecting the correct options in ccmake for a freshly updated CVS
tree of VTK
ccmake gives this error
Compiling VTK Cmake commands failed

My old gcc was self installed in /usr/local and not by rpm, if I
remember correctly.
I thought I had upgraded to the red hat gcc 3.2 release for red hat 8,
automatically with the redhat up2date mechanism.
However, on closer inspection we realised the gcc 3.0.4 installation
was still the active one.
gcc -v gave version 3.0.4, despite
rpm -q gcc
returning gcc3.2 was installed.

So I deleted / renamed the binaries and folders from the gcc3.0.4
installation,
then erased and reinstalled the gcc and cpp rpms from the redhat8
latest update distribution, which is gcc-3.2-7

now ccmake gives me the above error.
I think it might be something to do with the way I got rid of the old
gcc3.0.4 installation and installed the new one.

(I need gcc3.2 to compile the kernel specific parts of the
volumepro1000 board drivers, 3.0.4 doesn't work for them)

Anyone have any idea why I get this error and what it means, it isn't
very informative.
how can I get more info about what is going wrong?

cheers

Dan
