[vtkusers] Error executing cl.exe -- Compilation Error

Hi,
I am trying to compile VTK 4.4 using VS6 with all the patches installed on an XP machine.  Release Build goes well until near the end when I get:

  vtkImagingInstantiator.cxx
  Generating Code...
  Error executing cl.exe.

  ALL_BUILD - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)
Any help will be appreciated.  Also, any ideas when VTK 4.8 will be available?
