[vtkusers] compiling and running Examples

I can't build the latest Examples/Tutorial/Step1/Cxx using cmake on 
MacOS X.
Where do I find more information about how to do this. Otherwise, does 
somebody have a makefile I could look at which works. I don't care 
which OS it works on.
