[vtkusers] about binary file text file?

Hi,all vtkusers
    I want to know whether VTK can read a binary
file(*.dat) or a text file(*.txt).It is to say,does
VTK have the class which can read binary or text data
such as that vtkBMPReader can read BMP images.Thank
you for your help!!
