Dear Steffen:
I use the window NT4.0 version 6.0 based computer & VC6.0 compiler.
I build the vtkPatented.lib from the CD folder which attched with The Visualization Toolkit User's Guide 4.0
Then I readed the vtk help and followed the step.
I even try another way:
 The way was I did not use the CMAKE, I attached all header files and library(*.lib) files manually using the VC6.0 compiler and still can not build.
The message was that:

mcubes.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "__declspec(dllimport) public: static class vtkMarchingContourFilter * __cdecl vtkMarchingContourFilter::New(void)" (__imp_?New at vtkMarchingContourFilter@@SAPAV1 at XZ)
Debug/mcubes.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals
Error executing link.exe.

ALL_BUILD - 2 error(s), 0 warning(s)
