[vtkusers] problems with python and cvs vtk

hi there,
i've got yesterday's cvs version of vtk. i am interested in the python
bindings of vtk. i use python 2.1 on a suse7.3 linux system. running my
program i get the following error:
ValueError: method requires a VTK object

also running the test
VTK/Graphics/Testing/Python/streamSurface2.py
i get the same error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "streamSurface2.py", line 47, in ?
    sl.SetIntegrator(integ)
ValueError: method requires a VTK object

am i missing something? wrong python version?
help is greatly apriciated.
