[vtkusers] Vtk + python + distutils module experience ?

	Dear users,

	Context: VTK4.X, Python2.[1-2], distutils module

   I would like to use the wonderfull (for anyone having to handle Un*x + Win32)
distutils python module to manage the packaging of vtk Classes. The only
difficulty seems to extend/specialize the Extension class of distutils in 
order to handle the vtk Python wrappers.
   For classical Swig files, distutils works out of the box. But replacing
the swig invocation by the vtk Python wrappers is more challenging. It looks
like the maintainer of distutils is changing which might explain that
I couldn't get any kind of tip from the distutils user list (or maybe the
subject is too confidential)...
	Anyone willing to share his/her experience on that matter ?
