[vtkusers] reading dimensions

Hi,
I have a structred points file. I need to read just the
dimensions and the spacings of that data set. As far as
I know, vtkStructuredPointsReader reads the whole
image and cannot just read the dimensions. This process
is time consuming and unnecessary for what I want
to do.

Is there a way to read the dimensions and spacings 
without loading the data set into memory?
