hi,

Well, rest assured that (under normal circumstances) you are extremely
unlikely to get any sensible responses to a query of the type you made
on *any* list. Here are the reasons:

  (1) Most people on any list are already busy doing their work.

  (2) It takes effort answering any question. If you dont believe me
try it! and keep it up for a few years!!

  (3) A question such as this makes the work of a person who wishes to
answer even harder because she has to first say "ok, fine, please
tell me what exactly is your problem". Then you reply with the
details and then they have to respond again. Its easy to ask
verbally but email is not so easy - you still have to type and its
not the same thing as asking.

  (4) I dont know if any one on the list has special powers of mind
that they can 'see' your problem right away. :)

So as a *general* rule on any mailing list:

  (1) When you ask a question - give as many details as you can. But
of course - dont mail the entire contents of your hard disk! You
have to be careful to describe what is relavant to the problem.

  (2) Just as it takes effort answering a question - it takes effort
asking a good question. The quality of answers one gets usually
depends on how hard you work to explain your problem. Its an art
and as with almost everything else I guess you get better at it by
  practising more.

  (3) Also try to search on the web or search and look around at the
web page of the application before shooting off a question. Google
is really pretty awesome. The vtk web pages are a nice starting
point. The VTK FAQ is nice for some vtk related stuff. Sebastien's
links page is really nice. The doxygen based documentation for VTK
is also really nice and Sebastien has done an excellent job of it!

I am sorry if this sounds rude and upsets you but I mean well and have
nothing personally against you or anyone. I myself must have done
this a lot of times. I just felt like saying this so that it may be
of some use to you in the future.
