[vtkusers] Is VTK suitable for mathematical function graphing?

Sorry for the newbie question, but I've been very
impressed with what I've seen thus far with VTK
graphically, and I was wondering if it can be used to
display 2D and 3D function plots, in the manner of
Matlab, Mathematica, gnuplot, etc.  Is it set up for
that sort of thing?
