[vtkusers] Glyphs with negative values

Hi,
  In the past I encountered a problem using glyphs to represent scalar 
values which ranged from positive to negative. The glyphs get turned 
inside-out by negative values, with inward pointing normals which make them 
all but invisible. At the time I worked around this by adding a positive 
constant to all data values, although this messed up my legend of course.
I am about to do some similar work and wondered if anyone had any tips for 
solving this problem
