[vtkusers] Need help with converting VTK files to OBJ format

A while ago a fellow reported that there was a package to read VTK files
into Python, without need of the VTK libraries at all.  Python is a
good language for file-type conversions of this sort, and the install is
easy.  Take a look at http://cens.ioc.ee/projects/pyvtk/.
