You can use PolyDataConnectivity filter to extract the largset surface or one with a speciifed cell.
You could also proprocess the data with one of vtk's image connecitivity filters.

Subject: [vtkusers] Marching Cubes
Hi vtkusers
I have a question concerning the Marching cubes algorithm. I have a serie of
slices and I want to reconstruct the surface from these slices. I could do
it many times using the Marching Cubes, but the problem is that the files of
the models are very heavy. The algorithm extract the external and the
internal isocontours. What sould I do if I want to extract just the most
extern contour??
Thanks to reply
Lydia
