[vtkusers] Artifact from Mesa?

Greetings!

I've had an interesting artifact appear in the medical examples of vtk3.2
when I built it against Mesa 3.5 on Linux. A strip of polys under the nose
is darker, but not quite black. it's that way on both sides of the
isosurface. This artifact doesn't (seem) to appear anywhere else on that
model. And it doesn't appear anywhere at all with GL.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any other investigation found a
cause/solution?
